The first thing you'll notice about the Pet Ponderosa grounds is how well kept they are. Surrounded by nature, there are 5 acres on the Ponderosa for our guest dogs to take enjoyable walks. We have a lot of northwest touches around the grounds, such as bear and raccoon carvings.

In the photo above are the office/grooming shop on the left and the bunkhouse on the right. The outside runs are to the right of the bunkhouse. When you first arrive at the Pet Ponderosa, check in at the office.

Our office also has a small shop for pet items and treats.

The Bunkhouse features the state-of-the-art in kennel safety, cleanliness and comfort. As you can see in the photo above, we keep a chart with the dogs' information (name, vet, special needs etc.) on the door of each kennel.

Upon entering the Bunkhouse you realize how quiet it is considering it has many dogs inside. Because of isolation panels between the kennels, the dogs can't see each other and if one starts barking a special buzzer automatically sounds, which quiets the dogs down right away. This makes their stay much less stressful than if they got worked up barking for a long time. It also smells clean in the Bunkhouse because it's kept very clean and sanitized.

Each kennel was custom built by the Horst Company, an industry leader in safe and sanitized kennel systems. The individual kennels are extremely spacious, with the interiors ranging in size from 4' x 4' to 5' x 9' depending on dog size and availability. For our "climbing guests," we have a total of 9 covered kennels which keeps in our most notorious escape artists. Our "family style kennels," allow us to host 3 or more of your family members together comfortably, giving them 5' x 18' of spacious living space.

The Bunkhouse is a totally enclosed, temperature controlled facility. It provides a cool environment during the dog days of summer, as well as warmth for those cool evenings. This facility is also comfortably heated during the colder winter months.

Our warm-hearted ranch hands show their affection for their pet guests by personally and lovingly handling them when they lead them in and out of the kennel doors, they aren't automatically routed out of a buzzer door like some other places. Each kennel has room for you to bring your pet's personal toys or comfort blanket for their visit to the Ponderosa, so they feel like they're "home-on-the-range."

Because dogs need daily fresh air and exercise, we've built these outside runs, with safety for your pet our primary concern. These runs average 7.5' width x 25' length x 6' height. Runs have a covered area for our "escape artists," as well as each individual run has 3' of fencing below ground to prevent our "digging guests" from also escaping. All runs have 4-6 inches of "cedar playground chips" as ground cover. This helps keep your pets clean, free of fleas, and their "paw pads" well protected. In the hottest dog days of summer, a mist of cool well water periodically sprays over the dogs in their runs to keep them cool and comfortable.

Pet Ponderosa provides a clean and spacious environment for our feline guests as well. Our individual "cat condos" provide individual litter trays, and play/sleep area for your cat. Our well ventilated room has the air exchanged on a continuous basis, thus providing a clean smelling environment for your pet. Our climbing apparatus for your cat allows them to explore new heights. Our "garden window" allows your cat to have a unique view of the birds that inhabit the Ponderosa, thus allowing them to have endless daydreams.

Pet Ponderosa has a special section of the ranch devoted to day care for our pre-screened dogs. They have a large playground area to run and play in, as well as an indoor area for when the weather is bad. Read about the doggy day care policies on our doggy day care page.

We also offer Puppy Day Care, with the puppies kept separate from the older dogs. The puppies get lots of naps and even get to watch a bit of Animal Planet while they relax on floor pillows.

Our professional staff of dog groomers works in the rear section of our main office building where your lucky pooch can get a bath, a haircut and a nail trim. The dogs know they are in good hands with the affectionate groomers, which makes for a relaxed dog and a good grooming session.
