"We leave our big dog
Killer every year with the fine folks at Pet Ponderosa. He is pampered
and groomed and is always happy
to come and
visit the staff. I have not had any bad experiences at this kennel. It
is sanitary and better yet the staff all care about doing a great job.
I would highly recommend this wonderful accommodation for your pet." "She absolutely loves doggie daycare and simply howls with
happiness" "We are loyal customers of Pet Ponderosa for the past three years.
We drop off our dogs with peace of mind knowing they are in good
hands. Nancy, Regis and their staff are friendly, experienced and
professional when interacting with each other, their customers
and the animals. They know our dogs’ names and personalities.
More important, our dogs know them and are calm when we drive into
Pet Ponderosa’s welcoming property. When we pick up our dogs,
they are clean and healthy. The facilities are well maintained
and provide plenty of space for our large dogs. With Pet Ponderosa,
we do not worry anymore about taking long vacations." "Thank you for all that you do for us all year long" "The first time I took my dog to Pet Ponderosa she was very shy.
She would go to no one. Regis would go into her kennel and talk
to her. She would go to him which was very unusual. Because of
their loving care I have been using Pet Ponderosa for the last
5 years." "This testimonial is for my two dogs Fish and Scarlett.
Fish says he loves
all the special attention he gets at doggy daycare. He gets matched
up with
the perfect play group for how he feels that day. Fish says he
has made many
new doggy friends. Scarlett says she likes day care because she
can play and
be rowdy, but at the same time she is learning good manners and
how to be with
other dogs. That's important things to learn when you are still
a puppy! As
for their master, she loves the peaceful evenings at home when
the dogs are
all tuckered out and ready to cuddle up for a nap after a busy
day at Pet
Ponderosa." "Thanks for taking such good care of Bella" "Words can’t fully express how grateful
I am to the people at the Pet Ponderosa, my daughter got married
and moved to Australia
last year. We did not want our dog to make that trip and 6 months
of quarantine because of her age and meds. The problem is that
I travel about 50% of the time and need to kennel her. We were
devastated at the loud and cold conditions of other kennels. Discovering
Pet Ponderosa really gave us peace of mind that our dog would be
cared for in a clean, friendly and active way. I have found that
the folks at Pet Ponderosa treat our dog so well, that she really
enjoys going there. She’s always happy and clean when I pick
her up. I know they pay attention to her because of the stories
they recall to me. I really appreciate how willing they are to
accommodate her individual needs, such as, her own bed, feeding,
exercise instructions etc… Pet Ponderosa gets
a five star rating from us!" "Our relationship with Pet Ponderosa began when
our Border collie, Mickey, age four months, came into our lives!
We
decided a “day
off” from his high energy level would be good for us, and
a socializing time for him. What started as a short term plan
on our part has turned into a wonderful 4 year relationship that
has helped us through family emergencies and vacations knowing
Mickey was cared for, and that he was comfortable and safe in
a familiar surrounding with Nancy, Regis and the great staff
that lavish him with love. We have appreciated the high standard
and professionalism that is the constant goal of Pet Ponderosa-
so much so that we’ve asked the Jacksons to be “guardians” of
our cherished dog in the event something were to happen to us." "Thanks for supporting the Pasado's Safe Haven " "Bogart is our 6-year-old black lab. He has been
going to daycare at Pet Ponderosa since September ’07 and
absolutely loves it. His tail begins to wag wildly when we turn
off of the main
road and by the time we get to the driveway, his excitement has
almost overwhelmed him. He is barking and his entire body is
wagging with the anticipation of soon playing with his friends
at Pet Ponderosa. Each morning we are met by a smiling, and friendly
staff person. They always greet Bogart happily and he is very
happy to see them. It is obvious that everyone at Pet Ponderosa
enjoys working with animals. They seem to care about Bogart as
much as we do. It makes it easy to leave him for the day, knowing
he is in such loving care." "My name is Buddy K. I moved to Puyallup a little over 2 years ago from Kansas where I had a backyard as big as a farm. And, a dog park just 3 blocks away that I had been going to since I was 6 months old and a day care center where everyone knew and loved me. When I moved to Puyallup, I missed all of my friends. I was very depressed and got very fat because I wasn't getting the exercise I used to get. But one day, my mom and dad found Pet Ponderosa. Nancy and Regis (the FABULOUS owners) gave them a tour of the facility and shared their expertise of caring for pets. My mom took me there for a trial run and I had a BLAST! I got to run back and forth with other dogs outside in the dog runs. Then I got to make friends in day care. Pet Ponderosa has several fenced areas to play in and a room indoors to play in when it is really messy outside. And, when it gets warmer outside, my new furry friends and I get to play in the pool and chase water from the hose. I LOVE PET PONDEROSA. And that's not all! Pet Ponderosa is a full service resort. When my mom and dad go out of town, I get to stay there. I get my own kennel and my own bed. It's warm in the winter and nice and cool in the summer. And now they give me baths and do my nails. For 5 years, no one could do my nails unless I was knocked out (by anesthesia) each time which was bad for my stomach. I'm so happy that I have a new place to go to that people love me when my mom and dad go away again. And, sometimes my mom just brings me for a day of fun so I can run off pent up energy. My mom knows I love it there because my tail always begins to wag when we turn down 204th street. Follow me to Pet Ponderosa! You'll be happy you did." |

Ginger is a standard poodle that spent the day at the Pet Ponderosa Spa to receive a beautiful grooming and received a feather in her hair to finish off her look. Grooming is available seven days a week. Call to get your pet their holiday look. 253-847-7763
Leapster is a blue heeler/border collie that will be 5 years old in January. My wife and I were in Spokane at a farm store where a man was outside giving away puppies. I walked on to our van, and as I turned around, there was my wife walking towards me holding a puppy. As I looked at the puppy’s eyes looking at my wife and with her puppy dog eyes looking at me, I said OK. When we got home, we found out that he was already house trained, so no messes to clean up. After being home for a few days, he found a plastic 5 gal. bucket. That became his toy. Some how he got the metal handle off and would put his head inside and run a few steps, toss it up in the air then push it around the yard. He has now found a large flat rock that he pushes around the yard. When he rides in my truck he always has a mountain dew plastic bottle in his mouth. It sure has people looking and asking questions. We have taken him sheep herding at Fidos Farm which he enjoys and does quite well. He also has had some agility training and did well until a dog jumped on the other end of the teeter tottter just as leapster was getting on and got hit under the face which hurt him. He loves to go to daycare and the dog park where he gets along with all the other dogs. When I take him to my farm, at Reardan WA, I let him out of my truck about a mile from the house. He then runs alongside at 15 MPH and wants to do it again as we leave. After my wife passed away last December he has been a great companion helping to keep my spirits up.
These two 4 month old pups just love to play at Pet Ponderosa . Max is the German short haired pointer who visits Pet Ponderosa for overnight stays and daycare. When he visited Pet Ponderosa we were happy to have a pup the same age as Tucker. He belongs to Colby and Carla H. Tucker is the boxer. Tucker belongs to Pet Ponderosa. We had a boxer 3 years ago and missed her so much that when we had the opportunity to get a boxer my son Patrick really wanted him. Patrick went back to college, but Tucker skypes Pat and will visit him this month. Pet Ponderosa offers daycare for puppies 4 months and up. The puppies must have their 3 series of shots including a bordetella. This is a great way to socialize your new puppy and give them the exercise they need.
Dain is a two year old Belgian Tervuren. He is a sweet, and sometimes shy boy that brings our family daily smiles with his goofy antics. He is a disc dog extraordiniare and truly believes he was born to fly. His favorite activity is herding sheep, but a good game of Frisbee or bird chasing makes for a nice substitute. Dains' boundless energy and drive make him a wonderful jogging, rollerblading and hiking companion. Dain's experience at The Pet Ponderosa has been "just what the doctor ordered." His days at daycare have helped him to be a much more secure and social boy. Tervurens are a naturally reserved breed when it comes to new situations (and Dain was a little extra to boot), but he now takes on the world with confidence. Pet Ponderosa is one of the few places that Dain turns on his excited whine for upon arrival, and he always comes home happy and tired, which is the ultimate reward for his humans!
This is Hayley! She is a 2 1/2 year old Beagle, Jack Russell & Rat Terrier mix. She LOVES to run & play with all her friends at Pet Ponderosa and friends at home. She has lots & lots of energy so we're happy that doggy daycare helps us with it :). She loves bathing in the sun and playing in the snow but doesn't really enjoy the rain. Hayley loves to give kisses & cuddle and her long legs help her run really fast, she even runs & barks in her dreams (it's funny)!!. We are super happy that Hayley was chosen for Pet of the Month, it's nice to know everyone else loves her too! :)
Kona is a 1-1/2 year old German Shepherd. She is a playful puppy who will do anything to get someone to throw her ball to her. We love Pet Ponderosa because they help burn this energy out of her! She loves the people that work there and playing with the other dogs. We know that every time she's there, she's in great hands!
Sage and Basil are Rottweiler and Tibitian Mastiff mix. Sage is 5-1/2 and Basil will be 5 in April. They have been involved with Pet Ponderosa since childhood. First with obedience training and then with day care. Being big dogs, they can be intimidating, but going to day care on a regular basis has helped to make them good canine
Sam is part of our pack, and makes us get up and exercise every day with a mile and a half walk. He looks after us when we don't feel well; and he loves to take a nap with someone after lunch. He enjoys a bedtime snack (he learned about these at Pet Ponderosa) and takes down a huge carrot like a Northwest Logger. He loves them as treats...Sam seems to intuit "the needs of the pack" and we don't know who has trained whom.
Elvis is a very cute and loveable guy with an attitude. He loves swimming, posing for pictures and giving people slobbery wet kisses. If you have a treat, he will do anything for you. If you don’t, then he won’t. We started sending him to Pet Ponderosa for “Day Care” after I could no longer take him to work with me. He was about a year old and I didn’t want to leave him alone at home all day. Elvis absolutely loves the attention that they provide him (especially when they let him stay in the office). We love sending him there because they really go above and beyond for us and when on vacation we can relax and enjoy ourselves knowing that they love him as much as we do.
Lucy is a 2 1/2 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. We love her because she is such a laid back dog with such a goofy personality. She loves to play soccer with the kids and chase bubbles! She loves coming to Pet Ponderosa to play with her doggie friends and we love that she comes home exhausted!!
Loki is a rescue dog from Tacoma Humane Society. We wanted a "low-key" dog and have not been disappointed. Loki is kind and gentle, perhaps a little nerdy, but with a mischievous streak. He smiles when you tickle him, likes to tease the cats, and loves to hang out with the family. He'll do tricks for carrots. Loki enjoys Pet Ponderosa because he gets to play with his dog-friends. We like Pet Ponderosa because they treat him like one of their own.
Ollie has boundless energy and is never from our sides when we are at home or on a road trip. Ollie loves to play Frisbee and bat small soccer balls around in our yard. Ollie is much quicker than I am and scores ten times more goals as be bats the ball to his side of the yard using the Frisbee as a foot while he vigorously shakes his head – crazy dog. Ollie is a shy guy but very loving and we needed a place for him to socialize with a great team of caring providers and other well mannered dogs. We found that in the Pet Ponderosa and Ollie is happy to spend time there so he does not have to spend so many hours away from others while sitting at home. Ollie’s demeanor and confidence has improved so much since spending time at the Pet Ponderosa. We would much rather spend those hours with Ollie, but, we gotta work!
When he’s not doing his couch potato routine Titus enjoys a day at the dog spa - AKA Pet Ponderosa. It didn’t take him long to win over Nancy, Regis and the entire staff and become the teacher’s pet (pardon the pun). He enjoys his baths and brush-outs and all the pampering he gets. Playing with the other dogs is great mental stimulus and has helped with his socialization tremendously. He clearly loves his days at Pet Ponderosa. He jumps out of the car, runs to the office and pushes the door open. Once inside he runs around and says hello to all his people and dog friends.
“Bahama (Baha) is a proud mixed breed lab. She has a sweet spirit that shines through her playful soul. She loves long walks , good treats and fun company. Baha helped me through the trials and pain of back surgery when she was just a year old youngster. Her gentle but persistent love and need for a good walk enable me to recover in just half the time that was predicted. She knew that she had the job of being a physical therapy assistant. Baha is a regular 2 day a week Pet Ponderosa doggie daycare client ever since she was four months old . She truly enjoys her all day “recess” Baha love to be with other dogs and she has warmed up to lots of different types of people too! I love to hear about her days and her closest doggie pals. Baha also gets a good bath and groom every month or so from the Pet Ponderosa Team. She shines inside and out! Thanks to all the loving care and attention that she receives at her home away from home, Baha is maturing into a confident, well-mannered dog that I’m sincerely honored to have as my companion animal.”
“Abby and Ruger are our Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We got Abby first and quickly discovered what a high energy girl she was. We THOUGHT a playmate would give her extra exercise and companionship but they really just got into double trouble. Ruger was a rescue pup and wa s very timid and fearful. We found Pet P on line and I stopped by for a visit. Daycare has helped socialize and exercise the kids. They look forward to it and do a lot of dancing and wiggling when daycare day rolls around. They have their own play buddies and come home exhausted :) The people at Pet P are awesome. We've had to drop them off without scheduling and they are always accommodating. I like when they are boarded that they have to do an activity so they don't just sit in a kennel all day. ”
“My wife and I moved to Tacoma in 2005 from Los Angeles. Soon after that our daughter in LA asked if she could rescue an abused female Rottweiler and send her to us. We said yes and soon we had a sweet older “mother-type” Rottie who our daughter named “Lady”. Soon after that my wife rescued a stray Lab-Pit mix from a busy intersection that was about 2 years old. She let him in the backyard with Lady and they got along so great we had to keep him. We now had Lady and Jack-Jack who was named after a character in the animated movie “The Incredibles”. We have a big backyard but going to the dog park only on weekends isn’t enough for them so my wife looked hard for a good Day-Care for them and she discovered the Pet Ponderosa. It was a little bit out of the way from home to work but it has been really worth it all these years. Lady became a mother figure for the “puppy” Jack-Jack and they were a great team. She would look after him at the dog park and if the packs excitement got out of hand she would calm things down. When Lady developed bone cancer and went through chemo and a leg amputation Jack-Jack was always there for her and I know that made her last few months easier. When Lady’s pain finally ended Jack-Jack was very upset for quite awhile but going to day care helped. Regis, Nancy and the staff at the Pet Ponderosa was there for all of this and we will always be thankful for their support and care. Jack-Jack knows when Tuesdays and Thursdays come by because those are his day-care days and I have to do something special with him if the Pet Ponderosa is closed for a holiday. The squirrels torment him there and he has to stay in a covered run because he won’t put up with that and will jump the fence to get at them. He likes his walks with the handlers and stays close to Nancy while she is doing outdoor chores and he protects her from the evil squirrels. His best buddy is “Sammy” and he was a little lonely when Sammy had hip surgery and was out for awhile. He enjoys the attention he gets when being groomed out there and he doesn’t mind the scarves they put on him after a bath even if they are kind of girlie. Jack-Jack is a very special member of the family and he’ll being going to the Pet Ponderosa till the end. I know Regis, Nancy and the staff will help through that part of life also and that is a comfort.”
“Hi!!! We're Harlot and Cirrus and the people who take care of us are our favorite thing about going to the Pet Ponderosa. Cirrus also loves to make friends and play with the other dogs but Harlie has separation anxiety when our owner leaves her anywhere. Nancy and the Pet Ponderosa gang understand this and give her special care to help ease her anxiety. Our owner's favorite thing about the Pet Ponderosa is knowing we're getting the best care possible. We give the Pet Ponderosa two paws up!”
“Lubee is a Weimeraner, 9 years old. She loves to be with people, yummies,
camping and stuffed animals. Lubee loves Pet Ponderosa Beatrice is a Puggle (Pug/Beagle mix) and is 4 years old. She loves her big sister Lubee, running around, yummies, stuffed animals and she tries to be a good girl rather than a monster but it is not always easy. She loves Pet Ponderosa because all the people there love her and make her feel wanted. She likes playing with the other dogs and swimming in the pool in the summer.” |

citizens. They love the interaction with other dogs, but I think they like more... the love and attention they get from all their human friends. The Pet Ponderosa family has not only provided an outlet for their energy, they have helped provide safe activity when they were recovering from orthropedic ailments. We cannot thank them enough.
